Individuals with ASD have varied communicative abilities. They may fail to generalize word meanings, repeatedly use word-chunks, or be unaware of the context of the conversation. However, individuals with autism have strengths in this areas, as well. They can be good text readers and have highly developed word recognition skills and precocious reading development (Hall,pg. 175).
